What is a 'boonie hat?'

I am asked this question on a daily basis. A Boonie Hat is a floppy-rimmed hat that is ideal for tromping through sun drenched deserts, forests, and jungles. You have probably seen a wilderness explorer wearing one, but didn't know its proper name. For me, the Boonie Hat is a throwback to my service in the U.S. Military, of which I am proud.

A Boonie Hat is not associated with formal attire. It won't be found at social events, weddings, or ceremonys. But when there is work to be done, the Boonie Hat is a luxury you are glad to have.
